There are many ways to get involved in undergraduate research in Coastal & Marine Sciences, whether you are just getting started or looking to build on previous research experience. Research opportunities may be paid, credit-bearing, or volunteer-based and are available during the academic year and summer. Students interested in continuing their research as seniors can fulfill the COLL 400 capstone requirement through either the Departmental Honors Program or Senior Research.

Getting involved in research is a student-driven process. The guide below is designed to help you prepare, explore research opportunities, and confidently connect with faculty whose research aligns with your interests. Research opportunities are often shared with students through the department listserv. To join, email Dr. Christopher Hein.

Below explore the various ways to get involved in research by reviewing Getting Started section.  For seniors or students ready for their capstone course, review the options for Senior Research section or the Departmental Honors section.
